Mount the center part in the vise. Use an adjustable wrench on the outboard part, inside of the hole for the chains, and twist. It even easier than it sounds. I did not notice and metal fatigue with such a small twist.

Cheers.

Re: Tailwheel Upgrade

Hello,
I want to do the same thing to my stock -8 tailwheel.
I called Karen to ask if someone at her shop can send me the horn with a pre-twist in it. Do you think the 15 degree twist would be a pretty safe bet for a stock built RV8? If they can't do it, how did you safely do the twist without jeapordizing the metal?
Thanks,
Dic @ stonemtn737@aol.com 303-704-9933

Re: Lightspeed Ignition Installation

I wish I could tell you! Seems backwards, doesn't it!

I enjoyed building the RV-8 so much, I thought I should do it again. Rather than repeating the same exact thing, I thought the RV-7 would be nice. I loved the 8 and miss it, but expect to enjoy the 7 at least as much. The typical piston aircraft engine has two magnetos, which are proven and effective. But the this EI is solid state, has variable timing and a hotter spark.
